Chateau l'Hospitalet is a magnificent wine estate in the south of Languedoc. It is home to its headquarters and hosts an annual jazz festival that attracts world-famous musicians. The estate is located in the hills just east of the city of Narbonne, and its fields stretch down to the Mediterranean. All around, the fields are surrounded by cliffs (the area is even called la Clape) covered in garrigue vegetation, wild rosemary bushes and other low-growing vegetation that struggles to survive in this dry and barren environment.
Like most of Gerard Bertrand's wines, Hospitalet's wines are made from organically grown and biodynamic grapes. This is a charming Mediterranean wine, a classic blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvédre.
Deep ruby red in color, soft and well balanced, warm, spicy and dried fruit on the nose, dark berries, black cherries, blackcurrants, jammy plums and a hint of licorice along with earth, a little country, rosemary, fennel and ginger. Very mineral, nice structure, soft tannins and good length.
Grapes; Grenache , Mourvédre , Syrah
